The Overwatch World Cup 2026 (OWWC 2026) Grand Final kicks off soon, and ahead of the competition, esports.gg sat down with Team Saudi Arabia and Team South Korea for an interview about their journey to the top, standout moments, and what fighting words the players had to share with each other before duking it out.
- TVNT: We will beat you. You’re not gonna win, guys! 4-0!
- MAX: You’ve got nerve. You guys have never won the World Cup before!
- TVNT: You never won, too! You didn’t win, but it’s okay. My team won before. We will win it again.
- MAX: But we won three times!
- TVNT: Yeah, but you lost against France, and you’re so nervous. I think you’re shaking. Two losses too much. And you lost before in the Group Stage.
- MAX: No, we did that on purpose because that’s what they gave us. We wanted to give them a taste of their own medicine!
- TVNT: Ah, okay. We will see!
Overwatch World Cup 2026: Interview with MAX, TVNT, iMOH97, and Simple
Prior to the South Korea versus Saudi Arabia match in the OWWC Grand Final at BlizzCon 2026, esports.gg interviewed Mohammad “iMOH97” Al-saidan, Abdualziz “TVNT” Altmimi, Kim “Simple” Ji-sung, and Choi “MAX” Su-min. When we asked if they had any fighting words for each other, TVNT immediately said that his team will defeat Team South Korea.
As a response, MAX said that TVNT had a lot of nerve to say something like that. This banter went back and forth, with each player eagerly waiting for the translation.
As both teams left the interview booth, however, it was all smiles and more laughter as they prepared for their final match.

South Korea vs Saudi Arabia at OWWC 2026
While Team South Korea enters the OWWC 2026 Grand Final after defeating France 3-2 in the lower bracket, Team Saudi Arabia heads to the stage with a 3-0 sweep against Sweden.
In his interview with esports.gg, MAX revealed that the most standout moments so far are his team’s wins against France and the United States.
“We have a history of losing against the USA, so just winning against the USA gave us a lot of confidence. It felt really good getting our revenge. And also just thinking back to how we lost to France and were able to win today — I think that is also a part of it.”
He continued, “But because we were also defeated by Saudi in the recent World Cup as well, I think this is maybe our turning point.”
The Overwatch family at BlizzCon 2026 and beyond
Team Saudi Arabia’s iMOH97 shared some of his own thoughts, too, adding that his team is really proud of the recent match against Sweden.
“To be honest, I think it was the moment when we beat Sweden,” he said, recalling the cheers from the BlizzCon 2026 crowd and gaining a major confidence boost from that.
MAX also told us about what it meant to him to play Overwatch esports on the BlizzCon 2026 stage.
“I first started Overwatch for fun,” he said. “I was really just looking around, but I just want to tell myself, ‘Hey, you’re a national representative of South Korea now.’ I just really want to win. Let’s win it all.”
“It’s a great feeling to represent your country and something to be proud of. And your family will be proud of you for doing this. It’s a great feeling,” TVNT also told esports.gg.
Despite the banter, this feeling of making one’s country and family proud was a sentiment shared by everyone.
“I just want to extend my gratitude to my family,” Simple said.
That’s all for now. Good luck to both teams in the OWWC 2026 Grand Final! Stick around on esports.gg for more Overwatch news, interviews, and updates.
