The long and exciting 2026 season in LoL Champions Korea (LCK) comes to an end with double-elimination playoff brackets. The top 6 teams of this strongest League of Legends esports region clash to reach the top 3 and advance to the main event of the year, LoL Worlds 2026.

All eyes are on T1 players, sure. They are the reigning World Champions! To potentially extend their three-title streak, Faker and company should make it through a few highly intense rounds.

Dplus are the Esports Worlds Cup 2026 winners, and it’s interesting to check out their current state after such success. Gen.G dominated the LCK scene in 2025 and reached the top 3 at the First Stand tournament and the EWC 2026. Not qualifying for the Mid-Season Invitational 2026 (MSI 2026) was a big disappointment for Gen.G fans

Hanwha Life Esports won the MSI 2026 and guaranteed themselves Worlds 2026 qualification. Still, the expectations are high for them. Facing T1, Gen.G, and Dplus KIA is a nice test of true power.

The playoff matches of the LCK 2026 season run from Aug. 29 to Sept. 13. The series includes ten LoL battles in total, one per day.

Week 2, from Sept. 1 to Sept. 6: Up to the upper final and lower semifinal

All matches begin at 5 p.m. KST / 10 a.m. CEST / 10 a.m. ET.

T1 barely survive the opening match versus FEARX

This matchup was meant to be an easy one for T1, and they really won their playoff opener against FEARX — but with some unusual struggles.

FEARX even managed to reach the match point first, but T1 won two games after that. At the end, it looked like T1 woke up, as they totally destroyed the underdog opponents in game 5.

It was a remarkable play from FEARX, regardless.

KT Rolster sweep Dplus KIA

Defeating the EWC winners is a great way to start the playoffs for KT Rolster — and a big step towards the Worlds 2026 qualification.

KT and DK started with an extremely close game 1. Then, Dplus got themselves an impressive advantage in game 2, but KT Rolster managed to recover from a 14k gold deficit and win.

Game 3 was also nervous. KT took an extremely early Baron to build up their power, but they overstepped at the end, rushing to destroy the Nexus. It still went well for KT Rolster, with an Ace and the match win.

Gen.G Esports defeat KT Rolster, qualify for the Worlds 2026

It was an amazing battle from Gen.G! They outplayed their opponents with miraculous individual moments, steady play over the map, and explosive teamfights.

KT Rolster had a real chance to win game 1, as they were strongly ahead in gold and objectives. However, two mind-blowing steals from Kim “Canyon” Geon-bu saved the day — he took the Elder Dragon twice.

The rest of the match was generally the signature playstyle from Gen.G Esports. They stubbornly farmed around Summoner’s Rift, gaining their initial advantage, and then struck with seemingly well-planned fights.

KT Rolster went for some interesting picks: Yuumi in game 2 and blind-pick Gnar in game 3. It worked well, but Gen.G were better with their counter-play.

With this win, Gen.G advance to the LoL Worlds 2026 and let T1 qualify for the World Championship, too.

This time, it was the turn of Park “Ruler” Jae-hyuk to the 3,000 kills milestone!

HLE defeats T1 with a mind-blowing reverse sweep

Hanwha Life Esports won the upper semi to guarantee themselves the grand final presence. They defeated T1! While the match had no big meaning for the Worlds qualification, as both teams had already earned their spots, it was an important battle for the regional title.

T1 had two great games in the beginning. They unleashed their signature circuit style to win an extremely close game 1. Then, T1 totally dominated game 2.

After that, it felt like HLE finally woke up. They got crucial objectives and survived occasional miraculous strikes from the opponents. HLE secured three games in a row to perform a wonderful reverse sweep!

Dplus barely survive the elimination match versus FEARX

It took Dplus players a reverse sweep against FEARX to continue their Worlds 2026 qualification push. 

This shaky performance is not very reassuring, as Dplus were strong favorites in this matchup.

Dplus defeat KT Rolster and grab the final Worlds 2026 spot

KT Rolster won game 1, and they gave great fights throughout the match. However, Dplus KIA proved their status as the favorites and won this battle.

Dplus is the fourth team to represent LCK at the LoL Worlds 2026!

Due to the number of Worlds 2026 qualification spots for LCK, it’s hard for the biggest powerhouses to miss the ultimate event. Big upsets sure happen, and the competitive intrigue is still there.

T1: Ups and downs

In rounds 3 and 4, T1 players had wins and losses in the same matchups. The reigning World Champions finished third on the seasonal leaderboard, and the playoffs are a crucial test for them.

HLE: Matchup dependence

The MSI 2026 winners made it to the top in the regional standings thanks to their rounds 1–2 successes. Hanwha Life Esports had no answer to Dplus KIA and Gen.G. They defeated KT Rolster and T1 twice.

Gen.G: Difficulties against Dplus

This team had a great period in the rounds 3–4 regional season. Gen.G recovered from losing to T1 and defeated most other opponents, including HLE.

However, Gen.G couldn’t do anything with Dplus. They started with a loss to this team in weak 10 and then finished with the same result in weak 13.

Dplus KIA: Shaky performance

The LoL EWC 2026 champions had their usual unstable run at the end of this season. They defeated Gen.G and KT Rolster twice, but Dplus had losses to the other teams in the Legend group.

KT Rolster: The most dangerous underdogs

This team went from being 2nd at the 2025 World Championship to not participating in any international event this year. In general, KT Rolster has only an occasional Worlds presence, and it may happen again.

KT Rolster started rounds 3–4 with impressive wins against T1 and HLE. They lost all the following matches, however.

The LoL Worlds 2026 is scheduled to run from Oct. 15 to Nov. 14 in the USA.

All the other LoL esports regions have their representatives at the event. The playoff series for Europe (LEC) begins on Sept. 5.
