Overwatch World Cup 2026 breaks viewership record, BlizzCon celebrates WoW

Blizzard Entertainment has revealed that the Overwatch World Cup 2026 (OWWC 2026) Finals weekend at BlizzCon was the most-matched World Cup in Overwatch history.

The BlizzCon 2026 weekend also gave several other esports events the spotlight, including the World of Warcraft Mythic Dungeon International (WoW MDI 2026) competition, WoW Arena World Championship (WoW AWC 2026) tournament, and Hearthstone World Championship 2026. StarCraft, StarCraft 2, Warcraft 3, and Heroes of the Storm were celebrated through BlizzCon Classic Cup 2026 as well.

According to Blizzard Entertainment, the OWWC 2026 Grand Final match at BlizzCon reached 401,068 peak views and over 10 million hours of watch time.

The match featured Team South Korea duking it out against Team Saudi Arabia. To reach that point, both teams had to go through the Playoffs Stage and face powerhouses such as Team Sweden and Team France.

OWWC 2026 results and journey to the top

When it came down to the OWWC 2026 Grand Final, Team Saudi Arabia took the first map in Nepal. However, Team South Korea turned it out in Neon Junction. This team then showed no mercy as they continued to take on and win in New Junk City, Route 66, and Esperanca.

Throughout the tournament at BlizzCon 2026, esports.gg interviewed the top teams. Prior to the OWWC 2026 Grand Final, Team South Korea‘s Choi “MAX” Su-min and Team Saudi Arabia‘s Abdualziz “TVNT” Altmimi engaged in some banter. The latter player also boasted a 4-0 prediction. In the end, however, Team South Korea went 4-1 against Team Saudi Arabia and made Overwatch esports history. This meant four wins for South Korea in total.

During the post-match interview on the BlizzCon 2026 stage, MAX added fuel to this rivalry. “Representing our home country, we knew that we had to get this win,” he said. “We had to bring the trophy home. It really feels great to win. And also — KSA isn’t that great.”

Park “JunBin” Jun-bin, meanwhile, talked about how Team South Korea’s hard work paid off. “We put in a lot of hard work preparing to be on this team, and it’s really great to win,” he said. “Also, it was a lot of fun being [in] the Overwatch World Cup.”

In addition to Overwatch, BlizzCon 2026 featured major competitions for WoW, Hearthstone, StarCraft, and Heroes of the Storm. While Liquid Guild won WoW MDI 2026, Gators Back reigned supreme in the WoW AWC 2026 tournament.

The BlizzCon 2026 stage erupted in cheers as folks also cheered for OTGxhh as the new Hearthstone World Champion. To reach the top, he defeated Wu “XiaoT” Juwei.

Meanwhile, the BlizzCon Classic Cup 2026 event celebrated the history and impact of Blizzard Entertainment’s esports scene with StarCraft, StarCraft 2, Heroes of the Storm, and Warcraft 3.
